  • Kula Yoga Soho 481 Broadway, 3rd floor New York, NY (map)

In this series of 7 workshops, Lara will take you through the classic Iyengar approach to sequencing and systematic learning of the different families of asanas which allows the practicer to gradually awaken the body, mind and intelligence to move from the “skin to the soul”.

3. Inversions: while the standing poses are touchstone of Iyengar yoga, Inversions are the staple—and once learnt should be practiced daily. The two major inversions are Headstand (“the King of all Asanas”) and Shoulderstand (“the Queen of all Asanas). “Regular practice of Sirsasana develops the mind and widens the horizons of the spirit”, {while} “the importance of Sarvangasana cannot be over-emphasized. It is one of the greatest boons conferred on humanity by our ancient sages. It is a panacea for most common ailments”. In this workshop we will look at these two asanas and their variations in detail, looking at ways to enter and exit at the wall and in the center of the room.
