In this series of 7 workshops, Lara will take you through the classic Iyengar approach to sequencing and systematic learning of the different families of asanas which allows the practicer to gradually awaken the body, mind and intelligence to move from the “skin to the soul”.
2. Seated Poses, Forward Extensions and Lateral Twists: the seated poses traditionally come after the standing poses help ease strain in the legs. Energetically, they also differ from standing poses as they allow the practitioner to rest and recover from fatigue through their pacifying nature. In this workshop we will take a sequence of poses that start with several seated poses exploring various leg positions to create suppleness in the joints of the legs, as well as bring about freedom in the gluteus muscles and sacral-coccygeal region to help as we proceed to the forward extensions. Finally, the twisting asanas will bring the spine back to a neutral position after the forward extensions.
